The Head of Procurement, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA),
Engr. Abiodun Dabiri,
has been named the substantive Managing Director of the Authority by the Lagos State Governor,
Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is the transport planning, implementing, regulating and franchising authority of the Lagos State Government. LAMATA is structured to re-focus, re-design and develop all aspects of the State urban transportation system.
LAMATA is managed by a lean bureaucracy of in-house professionals, supported by contractors and consultants for prompt comprehensive service delivery. The organizational structure consisted of five  core departments namely,
- Finance and Management Information System,
- Corporate and Investment Planning,
- Bus System,
- Road and Infrastructure
- Rail Planning
six  supporting units namely,
Procurement, Admin. and Human Resources,
Traffic Management and Safety, Internal Audit and Media and Communication.
As part of its mandate to give Lagos a world class transportation system, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is promoting Non-Motorised Transport system (NMT) for the state.
The Lagos State Government has directed the relocation of the operations of the 1st BRT Cooperative run by the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW, Lagos State Council) from the Mile 12 to CMS Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor with immediate effect.
