Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga, Director, Rail Transportation is an expert in P-way engineering, rail operations safety, and regulation. He earned his Polytechnic and University degrees in Nigeria at the Kwara State Polytechnic and University of Ilorin respectively, MBS Health & Safety and MSc Project Management from University College, Dublin, Ireland
He is a certified Railway Track Engineer from Medway, UK.
Engr. Okusaga is also a certified Occupational Health & Safety Management System Auditor/Lead Auditor (OHSAS 18001).
He joined LAMATA in 2014 as a consultant in charge of the establishment of a Railway Safety and Regulatory Unit under the Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF). Before joining LAMATA in 2014, he worked with Irish Rail, Dublin, Ireland for over two decades with notable achievements. He developed and managed the Infrastructure Safety Management System (SMS), innovated safety solutions (safety stations) that helped promote safety within the organization, and reduced accidents, hazards, and risks locally within Irish rail. In 2007 he successfully established the first-ever Irish Rail Safety Internal Audit & Investigation Unit (SAIU).
In LAMATA, he designed and wrote the safety and technical specifications of the first Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) rolling-stock for the State, and has succeeded in the implementation of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) in accordance with the Strategic Transport Master Plan (STMP).
